I have been planning on doing this for a while, but haven't had the time to post till now... It would be a Dwarf Fortress bloodline game... In case someone doesn't know what that is... A bloodline or succession game is where multiple people take "turns" (usually a year or so) playing a single fortress... We will be playing a year each... You will write a journal and take pictures as you go along...
So anyway, anyone want to join the bloodline?
Limit of IRL time on how long each person have to play with their save is one week, each...
Bloodline: 1. Oidip 2. Genemos 3. Geenf11 4. Malpercio13 5. ComradeJohan 6. Rykerboy 8. There can be more... The list will rotate as we go...
Welcome, to Distantmire...

that sounds pretty awesome! unfortunately I've never played it, so i think that'd be the year the fortress fell into absolute chaos at the hands of the impotent king

It's like ASCII Minecraft with an empire... Oh and the motto of the game is "Losing is Fun!" so it doesn't matter... Here's some of the features... www.bay12games.com/dwarves/features.html and there's graphic packs if you don't like ASCII graphics...

I never tried it either. I heard the comparisons to it when I first discovered Minecraft, at which point I looked at it briefly and went back to Minecraft, not wanting to take the time to figure out the game mechanics. I've heard good things, just never gave it a chance.

I've heard good things, just never gave it a chance. I found out about minecraft while playing GMod, then I read that Minecraft was based of of Dwarf Fortress... So I tried Dwarf Fortress, after about 20 different attempts, I know the bare game-play...

I'm in! To learn how to play, go here: www.youtube.com/user/captnduck#p/uI would advise anyone new to the game to run MayDay's Tileset, found here: mayday.w.staszic.waw.pl/df.phpIt contains the entire game so just download it. An outdated text based tutorial can be found here: afteractionreporter.com/dwarf-fortress-tutorials/Many of the concepts are the same though, keybinds are not. For anyone wanting to stay sane, which isn't a lot of Fun, use this: code.google.com/p/dwarftherapist/downloads/listIt is a program to handle jobs, trust me, you want it. And don't fear, Genemos is here to lead the dwarves to victory, no matter other petty insurgents! It will be a new Bronzemurder! forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?t=510839If people want to, I can do a separate thread where I play a game and post pictures of it, called a "playalong" might get a few of you an idea of how the game works. Btw Ryker, very good embark place, river, no Aquifier, lots of wood, everything! Did you check if we have all civilizations btw?

I'll join I'm looking at the tutorial now. Hopefully during my reign as king the dwarves don't suffer to badly but of course between famines, droughts, plauges, and catsplosions chances are I will end up decimating the dwarf population with my noobishness.
